At Selby Abbey Primary School Year 5 are currently working
towards their Archbishop of York Young Leaders award. As part of this, Year 5
have undertaken a project in which they have researched a charity each. These
have included: Oxfam, Barnados, Cancer Research UK, Archbishop of York Youth
Trust and Trussell Trust.
In Year 5 we also looked at how we can all help to support
these different charities. As part of this the whole school wore bright colours
donating £1 each, supporting the motto “Bright colours for a bright future”.
Children also baked rainbow buns and sold this at playtime to their peers.
In total we were able to raise a huge £61.24 for each
charity!
The buns were delicious!
