Selby High School

On Monday 28th September ourselves and Mrs Saunders' class walked down to Selby High School for a day of fun workshops!

Firstly we began learning about how to make a spectroscope. spectroscope is a device that lets us find out what things are made of. It works by taking light and splitting it up into its component colors. Different elements make different colors when they glow

We then went on to learn all about what it's like being a Jockey. We looked at the different materials used for the uniforms and equipment.

Our next activity was all about staying safe our bikes! We had to learn what different road signs are used for as well and how we can make sure our bikes are safe.

After a well deserved lunch and rest we then headed on to learn about designing, creating and evaluating designs. We were challenged to create paper aeroplanes. Firstly we created one and then we had to evaluate why it wasn't successful and what we could change. Our first attempts were okay but our second attempts were much better!

Our final activity for the day was with St John's Ambulance Service. We learnt what to do if somebody is bleeding, choking or unconscious.

We had a great day and we all definitely showed gold behaviour!
