Yesterday in Science we looked at what eggs are made up of. We learnt how the shell protects the egg but can be easily broken. Inside the egg, it is filled with a liquid. This cushions an embryo if the egg has been fertilised. We then went on to look a bird's life cycle and compared it to different animals.
As part of our Science topic, we have class caterpillars. Yesterday in Science we began looking at complete and incomplete metamorphosis. This is where insects and amphibians slightly change or completely transform. Over the weekend one of our butterflies transformed from being inside the chrysalis to being a butterfly. At the end of yesterday we witnessed one shaking as it was beginning to emerge. After school it safely emerged from the chrysalis!
Wow, look how our caterpillars have changed. What can you see has happened? It's a slightly blurry photo but you should be able to see our caterpillars are very different. We will be exploring the life cycle of insects when we are back at school after Easter.
